My Word of the Year 2023

Writer's picture: Alicia PazAlicia Paz

For the last three years, I have spent time at the end of the year focusing on a word of the year. One simple word that works as an intention to focus on for the following year.

Recap:

My 2021 word was balance. I quit Graduate School (for my 2nd Master's) and started to focus on organizing my workload. I was able to hire some support to grow the business and give myself space and time to grieve the loss f my father at the end of 2022.

My 2022 word was joy. This year was challenging, and although I am ending the year exhausted in many ways, I have been able to focus on reading and spending more time with friends. In addition, I am doing things I enjoy and planning solo travel for the beginning of 2023, something I have not done since 2016.

My word for 2023: patience

My intention with patience is to continue working on goals and tasks and give myself more grace. Allow me to take my time and work under a sense of non-urgency in my actions.

I created a poster in Canva to keep in my office to remind me of this.
